Established in 1933, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices throughout the U.S. and Canada for dedication to high standards of veterinary care. Approximately 3,000 AAHA-accredited practices pass regular reviews of AAHA's stringent accreditation standards that cover patient care, client service and medical protocols. |
Purpose: |
The purpose of AAHA is to:
- Enhance the abilities of veterinary professionals to provide quality medical care to companion animals;
- Enable veterinarians to successfully conduct their practices and maintain their facilities with high standards of excellence;
- Meet the public's needs as they relate to the delivery of small animal veterinarian medicine

Members: |
Approximately 3,000 AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards in the following areas: quality of care, diagnostic & pharmacy, management, medical records, and facility. |
Media Resource: |
AAHA's public relations department is available to help you develop pet-related stories. AAHA can provide national and local experts on pet health care and veterinary medicine, as well as information on pain management, canine vaccines, selecting pet insurance, common diseases and other pet-related issues. The Association is currently working on standardized diagnostic codes, electronic health records, and improving client compliance. |
